Photography

Visual communication and culture on the basis of artistic freedom.

Dietmar Baum and Tini Papamichalis are artists who tell stories with their works. They are more than mere aesthetes because they communicate a message. That message might be the attitudes and values of a nation, the uniqueness and fragility of our planet, the contrasting elegance and ruin of a region and its everyday reality or the question of our existence and future.

They select specific themes and immerse themselves into them, creating a series of fine art photographs that encourage contemplation, reflection and scrutiny.

People

Both artists are driven by passion. When photographing people they love to use different methods and approaches.

They are able to create captivating works because they have an intuitive sense for the perfect moment and they stage their subjects in unexpected and surprising ways; some captured by pure coincidence.

Faces, appearances and physical shapes are all artworks that are expressed in a unique way by Dietmar Baum and Tini Papamichalis.

Object

In their object photography work, both artists share a passion for portraying an object as a means of artistic expression, and interpreting a fleeting moment in an idiosyncratic way.

Each fine art photography series focuses on a specific theme and illuminates it in a different way. “KIA” features an epoch that is poetically decaying behind closed shutters, while the chair on the pavement in “Tango dies slowly“ seems to be waiting for somebody who never arrived.

The innovative perspectives expressed by the two artists often encourage the beholders to make their own interpretations and to reflect - a challenge that the artists set themselves in every single one of their works.

Fineart

To Dietmar Baum and Tini Papamichalis, fine art is about going to the limits of what is feasible so that they can continuously grow and evolve. Their artworks are precision-developed from photograph into final product by way of analogue or digital processing.

Fine art is the entire process of creating photographic works of art. It is more than just a skill. Fine art is a process that involves sophisticated technology. It is a platform that provides the artists with unlimited options.

It gives them the artistic freedom to satisfy their desire to present objects to the public as they visualise them. And it allows them to captivate and inspire the beholder by transcending boundaries.

Photo safaris

Experience, discover and enjoy!
Our photo safaris offer photography lovers the opportunity to nurture their talent and broaden their expertise.

We provide our photographers with the chance to develop their own artistic signature by exposing them to the diverse scenery, panoramic locations and multiple possibilities that foreign countries and cultures offer.

On the one hand, we communicate the basic rules of photography to them and build on this. On the other, we teach them how to recognise the perfect moment and the perfect subject.

Each photo safari has a limited number of participants so that we can optimally cater to their individual needs.

Our photo safari programme details are provided below. Please contact us if you have any questions or need more information.

Do you want to go to a specific country?

Do you want to organise a trip for a larger group? Would you like to learn a specific photographic technique?

Talk to us. We’ll be happy to organise an individual photo safari with you and our artists.

Workshops

In fine art photography, the photographer faces a number of challenges in conveying the ultimate message via the photograph - such as reproducing reality in art, consciously experiencing the surroundings and selecting the perfect angle for the shot.

.

Concepts and images always have to begin as an idea. This is what the artist Dietmar Baum communicates in his workshops. He teaches participants the “art of seeing”.

With theoretical tips & tricks and basic psychological insights into subject sourcing and perception - mainly through practical exercises at various locations - he shows them how to achieve innovative and surprising photo art results.

Presentations

Thousands of images  – one subject
Perception creates reality. People don’t see the world how it is. They see it how they perceive it. And that principle also applies in photography. The photographer selects subjects and angles that reflect his personal perspective. So many photographs of the same subject can create countless different works with different messages.

Artist Dietmar Baum’s presentations explain this phenomenon, and how the photographer can take advantage of it. Perception psychology and the subjective relationship between stimuli and how we perceive them offers us vast, largely untapped potential for the creative process of artistic photography.

Talking to both small groups and large audiences, artist Dietmar Baum always delivers an interesting and transcending experience to the audience. He provides his listeners with direct personal and professional benefits.
He sets trends and encourages developments.

Art unites!
Art-related events provide a platform for meeting people, for dialogue and for networking. An increasing number of corporate executives are using art to benefit their companies; as a communication or marketing tool, as a means of image enhancement or simply to optimise the corporate climate and give the company premises a new look.

We’ll be happy to help you plan an exhibition at your company, advise you on the choice of artworks and how to position them optimally.

Add Art - We offer project-based individual art series that are specifically designed and implemented for your company.

The basic idea is to capture the company’s specific components, structures and moods in order to transform the company itself into a work of art. We capture the company’s world, mood and philosophy and present it in an artistic way.

Every room and every object has a history that we can communicate with your help.

Dietmar Baum

ART Photographer, Hasselblad Ambassador

“From inspiration to concept - and from statement to image!
The art of living and the art of photography are central to Hamburg-based Dietmar Baum’s existence. For almost 30 years now, the photographer, author and designer has been dedicated to all kinds of successful international art and design projects. He transforms every technique - portrait, landscape, documentary and product photography - into art.

Photography is the tool he uses to freely interpret and communicate his impressions. “The Hasselblad H Series’ colour filter array and range of lenses gives me optimum freedom,” commented Baum. His choice of subjects, his use of light and perspective and his ability to capture the perfect moment happens almost arbitrarily, which is why, when you look at his photos, you can see the stories behind the images. That’s his passion - creating fine art stories. He has the ability to communicate non-verbal statements in his works yet be absolutely candid; assuming the role of an ambassador who shows his hand. He either works solo or with a team of artists from various disciplines.

Tini Papamichalis

Tini Papamichalis

She has a colourful life and she loves beauty, humour and the bizarre. Artist Tini Papamichalis originally wanted to work behind the camera as make-up artist. She has always had a passion for altering and enhancing the appearance of people, portraying the different facets of their personalities, and using their faces as a canvas for creating images. But Tina ended up in front of the camera as a model, her career for over 20 years. It was a wild and wonderful time with extensive travel and exciting experiences that she wouldn’t have missed for the world. Tini’s curiosity drives her to try out new things, which is why she’s now back behind the camera, finally filling her blank canvasses with photographs. Life and all the different perspectives on life provide her with a multitude of stories, some of which she hopes to capture in images. In her mind, she’s already finished. Now she only has to put her plan into action so that she can share her visions with others.

Together with “Art DJ“ Dietmar Baum Tini has immersed herself in the wonderful world of art and photography.
